TESTING THE ECHO

MECO INVITES YOU TO THE OXFORD PLAYHOUSE, WEDNESDAY, 19 MARCH AT 6:30 PM. TICKETS ONLY £5, WHICH INCLUDES THE SHOW, MUSLIM SNACKS, SOFT DRINKS AND ATTENDANCE AT A SPECIAL PRE-SHOW TALK BY THE PLAY'S DIRECTOR

In view of MECO's long-standing promotion of Muslim music, films and the arts in the UK, we have entered into a mutual partnership with the Oxford Playhouse to offer our members, supporters and friends an unprecedented opportunity to see plays that have a particular resonance for British Muslims. This year we are again pleased that our membership and supporters will have the chance to watch one of the most engaging comedy productions to come to Oxford. Written with charm, wit and passion, David Edgar's new play, TESTING THE ECHO, is a fascinating tapestry about the twisting road to becoming British today. Secretly, Tetyana wants to escape her marriage while Mahmood gets kidnapped for his own good. And the motley crew in Emma's English class are all looking for something, whether it's a passport - or a fight. As the day of their citizenship ceremony gets close, Emma's students begin to challenge some of her dearest-held beliefs of what it means to be British. The play is produced by the Out of Joint Company, the same team that brought the highly successful KING OF HEARTS production to Oxford last year. MECO members recall that hilarious production and the collective night out with tremendous nostalgia.

Like last year, MECO extends a warm invitation to you, your family and friends to join us at the Oxford Playhouse on Wednesday, 19th March at 6:30 pm to indulge in an evening of Muslim food and to hear the director speak in a pre-show talk and then to enjoy one of the year's great comedy hits. All of this for the unrivalled price of only £5 per person. This unique offer is exclusively available through MECO and needs to be to be pre-booked as soon as possible to avoid any disappointment, as seats are limited. Advance reservations can be made at: admin@meco.org.uk or by phone: 01865-766032.
